This Asturian SME applies artificial intelligence developed by CTIC Technology Centre to improve the quality of its 63 varieties of cheese
Two partners of AsDIH, CTIC and SEKUENS Agency, offer free technological advice and financing services to the company
The Asturian company Industrias Lácteas Monteverde has won the National Connected Industry 4.0 Award for Small and Medium-sized Industrial Enterprises, which is awarded every year by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
The jury valued the candidacy of this Asturian SME for a project “with which they have significantly improved the quality and traceability standards of their products”.
The award was collected by Enrique López Argiz, CEO of Industrias Lácteas Monteverde, from the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, and the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Salvador Illa. The award ceremony took place within the framework of the National Industry Congress, held at the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) on 15 and 16 January.
HOW DIGITALISATION CAN REVOLUTIONISE THE PRODUCTION PROCESSES OF SME
Industrias Lácteas Monteverde, an SME from Asturias with more than fifty years of life, is an example of how the digitalisation of the production processes of traditional companies can revolutionise the business fabric.
The QuesIA project, implemented by the company and developed by our partner CTIC Centro Tecnológico, applies artificial intelligence to predict and ‘decide’ which type of cheese will be used for each type of milk that enters the factory every day.
As the milk from different suppliers has different organoleptic characteristics, these ‘decisions’ of the expert system based on artificial intelligence help to guarantee the quality and uniformity of the final product, the more than sixty varieties of cheese that Industrias Lácteas Monteverde produces.
TECHNOLOGICAL ADVICE AND FINANCING SERVICES THROUGH ASDIH
Through the Asturias Digital Innovation Hub (AsDIH), the company has been able to access the technological advice it needed to meet the challenges of production and guidance in obtaining financing. Our partners CTIC and Agencia Sekuens have been the providers of both services.
Every year, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, through its Secretary of State for Industry, organises the National Connected Industry 4.0 Awards, with the aim of recognising the efforts and merit of Spanish industrial companies in the field of digitisation. At the same time, they are a tool for the identification, dissemination, and recognition of successful Spanish projects in Industry 4.0, helping to increase industrial and digital vocations among our young people.
These awards aim to raise awareness among the Spanish industrial fabric about the necessary digital transformation.
