Asturias Digital Innovation Hub (AsDIH) confirms the fulfilment of the objectives proposed within the framework of the European network of digital innovation centres.
Last December, the 4th General Assembly of Asturias Digital Innovation Hub (AsDIH) took place at our headquarters in the AS5-HUB building in Gijón. A key event to assess the progress and achievements in the two years of project implementation on the eve of the new call of the Digital Europe Programme.
Jaime Fernández, head of the New Knowledge, Transfer, and Innovation area of the SEKUENS Agency, highlighted during the opening of the assembly the active participation of the attendees and thanked the collective effort of the partners who have promoted the various initiatives of the hub.
AsDIH: positive assessment of progress in services to SME, networking and training activities
Clara García, from the SEKUENS Agency, and Paula Fernández, from the AsDIH Technical Office, gave a detailed presentation on the work carried out to date. Among the milestones highlighted were the services provided to SMEs through the Digital Innovation Hubs Support Programme (PADIH), networking meetings and training activities, both basic and specialised. The overall conclusion was positive, showing that the objectives set at the beginning of the project are being satisfactorily met.
The Technical Office: a key success for the centralisation of services and continuous support
A notable aspect of this edition of the assembly was the recognition of the Technical Office, a figure that not all the Digital Innovation Centres (EDIH) have, but which has been considered a great success. This office has facilitated the centralisation of requests from SMEs, improving the ability to offer a wider range of services and ensuring continuity in customer service, while playing a crucial role in attracting and supporting partners.
Focus on key industry sectors and international collaborations
In terms of the project’s clients, an analysis by sector was presented, highlighting the presence of companies in the forestry, agri-food, engineering, and ICT sectors. The aim is also to promote the industrial companies sector and the services associated with this sector.
During the assembly, the international collaborations in which AsDIH is involved were reviewed, especially with other EDIH working in similar fields to ours. These are digital innovation centres focused on industrial, metal, or health sectors and offering technologies such as artificial intelligence or the Internet of Things (IoT).
New EDIH 2.0 call in 2025 focused on AI
Finally, one of the most relevant points of the assembly was the analysis of the new call of the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL), scheduled to open in 2025. This call, promoted by the European Commission, aims to consolidate the network of digital centres, with a particular emphasis on the development and adoption of technologies based on artificial intelligence.
From AsDIH, we continue working to strengthen digital innovation in Asturias, supporting our SME and contributing to the technological and economic development of the region.
